Lincoln ranks in Top 5 brands in J.D. Power 2019 Initial Quality Study

The 2019 J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) results are out, and Lincoln made quite the statement.

The Lincoln Navigator, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln MKC all ranked in the top three of their respective segments. Combined, Ford and Lincoln have 10 top-three models in the study, thanks to overall quality improvements that are outpacing the industry.

“To have both Ford and Lincoln rank among the top five brands affirms our commitment to delivering the best cars, SUVs and trucks for our owners,” said Linda Cash, Ford vice president, global quality.

Lincoln’s strong SUV lineup drove first-quarter sales up 11.2 percent, with the new Navigator posting a 10 percent gain. Lincoln’s SUV momentum is expected to continue as two new SUVs – Aviator and Corsair – prepare for launch this year.

The J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study measures initial quality of vehicles by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership. A lower score reflects higher quality.

The 2019 study was based on responses from over 76,000 purchases and lessees of new 2019 model-year vehicles who were surveyed after 90 days. It was fielded between February and May 2019, and was based on a 233-question survey organized into eight vehicle categories. For more information about the results of this year’s study, visit J.D.
